As a former student leader, May Yang has always been drawn to student engagement and student empowerment. These interests combined with her passion for equity and diversity lead May to work as a researcher in projects focused on increasing opportunities and access for minority students and marginalized communities. Most recently she worked on closing the opportunity gap for students of color in Minnesota. May has also worked as a media specialist collaborating with students to share their experiences through digital storytelling.
Outside of work, May enjoys spending time with her two rabbits as well as yoga, hiking, and the great outdoors. May is also currently earning her M.A. in Higher Education Policy and Administration where her research examines the intersection of higher education, campus climate, and the media with a critical focus on race and student experiences. May is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where she earned a B.A. in Communication and Media Studies and a B.S. in Business Marketing.
