MSCSA Vice President Travis Johnson presents State Rep. Tom Rukavina with the MSCSA State Representative of the Year Award.
At our Legislative Honors Dinner, The Minnesota State College Student Association recognized District 5A State Representative Tom Rukavina as its choice for the State Representative of the Year Award.
“Since taking over as the Chair of the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, few legislators in Minnesota have been a bigger advocate for student issues than Rep. Tom Rukavina,” said MSCSA Vice President Travis Johnson.
Representative Rukavina has always had an open door policy for students and put the interests of students above all others. During the 2009 legislative session, Rep. Rukavina helped minimize tuition increases, pushed equitable financial aid and implemented student friendly policies.
The award was presented to Representative Rukavina by Travis Johnson, MSCSA Vice President and student at Lake Superior College.
District 23 State Sen. Kathy Sheran was also awarded our State Senator of the Year award, though Sen. Sheran was not able to attend.
