Rock the Caucus
At the January Student Leadership Conference this past weekend, the Minnesota State College Student Association launched its effort to expand student participation in the Minnesota caucus process.  Precinct caucuses are meetings organized by Minnesota’s political parties to initiate the process of choosing candidates for the 2012 election and policy positions to define the party platform.  Caucuses are held in locations all across the state and are open to the public.

To kick off the caucus campaign MSCSA President Geoff Dittberner and Director of Government Relations Dan Evans signed up 34 students to pledge to caucus.  This level of student enthusiasm for caucus involvement continued throughout the weekend, as student leaders received training to facilitate their leadership in the campaign.  Following multiple training sessions and the distribution of caucus materials, MSCSA student leaders are ready to make a major push to "Rock the Caucus" on February 7, 2012.

Student leaders from 36 campuses received materials and training to launch the "Rock the Caucus" campaign at their institutions.  If you want to join this exciting effort, we are supporting our caucus campaign on the web. Materials to support the campaign and a pledge to caucus form are available at http://www.mnstudentsmatter.org.

With your help we can ensure that the voice of students is heard in every local community this February 7.
